The FBLA Program of Work is a valuable tool for students who want to succeed in business and leadership. It provides a framework for planning and implementing activities that will help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their careers. A well-written Program of Work can also help students earn recognition and awards from FBLA.
There are many different ways to create a Program of Work, but all Programs should include the following elements:
Goals and Objectives
The first step in creating a Program of Work is to identify your goals and objectives. What do you want to achieve with your Program? Do you want to increase your knowledge of business? Develop your leadership skills? Prepare for a career in business? Once you know your goals, you can start to develop activities that will help you achieve them.
Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). For example, instead of saying “I want to learn more about business,” you could say “I want to learn about the different types of businesses and how they operate by the end of the year.”
Activities
The activities in your Program of Work should be designed to help you achieve your goals and objectives. Activities can include attending FBLA meetings, participating in FBLA competitions, volunteering for FBLA events, and shadowing business professionals.
When choosing activities, consider your interests, skills, and experience. You should also consider the resources that are available to you. For example, if you want to shadow a business professional, you could reach out to local businesses or ask your FBLA advisor for help.
Timeline
Once you have identified your activities, you need to create a timeline for completing them. Your timeline should be realistic and allow you enough time to complete all of your activities. It is also important to build in some flexibility into your timeline in case of unexpected events.
Evaluation
It is important to evaluate your Program of Work regularly to ensure that you are making progress towards your goals. You can evaluate your Program by tracking your progress on your activities, reviewing your goals and objectives, and seeking feedback from your FBLA advisor.
If you are not making progress towards your goals, you may need to adjust your Program of Work. You may need to add more activities, change the timeline, or seek additional support. It is also important to remember that your Program of Work is a living document that can be changed as needed.
